Healing Through Poetry
In her 2018 debut collection Light Filters In, teen Instagram sensation Caroline Kaufman (aka @poeticpoison, nearing 200k followers) tackled difficult topics such as anxiety, depression, sexual assault, abusive relationships, first love, the loss of freedom and innocence and the search for self. Now in her sophomore release, Kaufman explores the shock, wonder and beauty of an uncertain future with uplifting words on love, forgiveness, self-discovery and what it’s like living after a hard-fought battle with depression. She began writing poetry when she was thirteen years old as a means of coping with her depression and a year later started posting it online. Kaufman is currently a student at Harvard University.
